1957 Topps #325 Frank Bolling
Scarce fourth series: #265-352 is the tough run of the 1957 set — roughly twice as hard to find as the other series ("tough, not rare"). No documented reason survives; the best-researched account is that Topps printed the hastily assembled final series in quantity and left Series 4 with the shortest run.

About Frank Bolling
Francis Elmore "Frank" Bolling was a slick-fielding second baseman from Mobile, Alabama, signed by the Detroit Tigers as an amateur free agent in June 1951. He reached the majors in 1954 and anchored Detroit's keystone through 1960. His best year came in 1958, when he set career highs with 164 hits and won the American League Gold Glove after leading league second basemen in fielding; that same season his brother Milt, a shortstop, was traded to Detroit, briefly making the Bollings one of only four brother tandems in big-league history to man second and short for the same club. Dealt to the Milwaukee Braves for Bill Bruton after 1960, he earned National League All-Star selections in 1961 and 1962 and followed the franchise to Atlanta before retiring in 1966. Over twelve seasons he batted .254 with 106 home runs and 556 RBIs in 1,540 games. This scarce high-number Series Four card is among the tougher 1957 Topps pulls.
