The players on this card
Card #385 leads off Topps' 1960 World Series subset — the first run of World Series cards issued in any baseball set — with a snapshot from Game One at Comiskey Park on October 1, 1959. After Junior Gilliam grounded out to open the Series, Charlie Neal singled off third baseman Billy Goodman's glove, then swiped second, the only stolen base either club managed all afternoon. Duke Snider walked to keep the inning alive, but Norm Larker lined out to end the threat, and the Dodgers never threatened again. Chicago's offense buried Los Angeles from there: Ted Kluszewski drove in five runs on two home runs, and the White Sox sent 11 men to the plate during a seven-run third inning off Roger Craig and reliever Chuck Churn. Early Wynn worked seven shutout innings before Gerry Staley closed out an 11-0 rout — the highest-scoring shutout in World Series opener history. Topps built the card around Neal's steal even though it was the Dodgers' only bright spot in a laugher.
