The players on this card
The 1960 Reds finished sixth in the National League at 67-87 under manager Fred Hutchinson, 28 games behind the pennant-winning Pirates, and drew a league-worst 664,486 fans to Crosley Field. Frank Robinson carried the offense with a .297 average, 31 home runs and 83 RBI, while center fielder Vada Pinson collected 187 hits and hit .287. Eddie Kasko batted .292 at third, and Gus Bell added 12 homers in right. An offseason trade sent Johnny Temple to Cleveland for Cal McLish and Gordy Coleman, and during the year Cincinnati signed amateur free agents Pete Rose and Tony Pérez, both still years from the majors. The last-place finish in attendance masked a quick turnaround - the Reds won the NL pennant the very next season.
