About Buddy Bradford
Charles William "Buddy" Bradford broke in with the Chicago White Sox as a promising young outfielder, debuting on September 9, 1966. Prized for a strong right-handed throwing arm, he played parts of eleven big-league seasons across four organizations: the White Sox (1966-70, 1972-75, 1976), Cleveland Indians (1970-71), Cincinnati Reds (1971) and St. Louis Cardinals (1975). Chicago sent him to Cleveland along with pitcher Tommie Sisk for Bob Miller and Barry Moore just before the June 1970 trade deadline, then reacquired him from St. Louis with pitcher Greg Terlecky for infielder Lee Richard in December 1975. His 1975 Topps card, #504, shows him back in a White Sox uniform during that second Chicago tenure. Bradford won the White Sox's starting center field job in 1976 but was released that season after a cold stretch at the plate, then closed out his career in 1977 with Japan's Kintetsu Buffaloes. He finished with a .226 average, 363 hits, 52 home runs and 175 RBI in 697 games.
