1975 Topps #648 Dave Pagan

About Dave Pagan
Dave Pagan, born September 15, 1949, in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, joined the New York Yankees organization in 1970 and spent three seasons in the farm system before debuting in the majors on July 1, 1973, starting the second game of a doubleheader against Cleveland. His 1975 Topps card, #648, arrived in his third big-league season, when he worked strictly in relief, posting a 4.06 ERA and a save across 13 appearances. Pagan made the Yankees' Opening Day roster in 1976 before being included, along with Rick Dempsey, Scott McGregor, Tippy Martinez, and Rudy May, in a ten-player blockbuster trade that sent Ken Holtzman, Doyle Alexander, Elrod Hendricks, Grant Jackson, and Jimmy Freeman to New York. Selected by Seattle in the 1976 expansion draft, the right-hander helped open the Mariners' inaugural 1977 season before a midseason trade brought him to Pittsburgh. He finished his five-year career with a 4-9 record, 4.96 ERA, and 147 strikeouts over 85 games, retiring after two more minor-league seasons in the Pirates' system.
