About Ray Corbin

Alton Ray Corbin spent his entire five-year major-league career with the Minnesota Twins, the club he signed with as an amateur free agent out of Live Oak, Florida, in 1967. Born February 12, 1949, the right-hander broke in on Opening Day 1971, throwing two relief innings in a loss to Milwaukee. Used as both starter and reliever, he made 63 starts and finished 62 games, going 36-38 with a 3.84 ERA and 348 strikeouts over 652.1 innings. His signature stretch came in 1972, when he reeled off three straight complete games and a 27.1-inning scoreless streak. Card #78 catches him in 1975, his final big-league season, in which he set a career high with nine strikeouts in a single outing against the White Sox to close out a career spent entirely in a Twins uniform.
