About Vic Albury
A left-handed pitcher, Vic Albury broke into pro ball as a first baseman, taken by the Cleveland Indians in the ninth round of the 1965 draft out of Key West High School in Florida. Military service kept him out of baseball from 1966 through 1968; he returned as a pitcher. After working through the San Diego Padres' system, he landed with the Minnesota Twins via the November 1970 minor league draft. Albury debuted for Minnesota on August 7, 1973, and reeled off ten straight scoreless relief outings to open his career. He started regularly in 1974 before a shoulder injury slowed him, then split time between rotation and bullpen in 1975 - the year on his Topps Minnesota Twins card, #368 in the set - when he walked 97 batters, ninth-most in the American League. A line drive off George Brett injured his leg in 1976, his final big-league season, closing out four years with the Twins at 18-17, 4.11 ERA in 101 games.
