About Lou Jankowski
A Regina-born sniper who tore up junior hockey with the Oshawa Generals — winning the OHA's Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy on a monster 65-goal, 124-point season in 1950-51 alongside linemate Alex Delvecchio — Lou Jankowski broke in with Detroit before the Red Wings sold him to Chicago in the summer of 1953. His best NHL campaign came immediately: 15 goals in 68 games for the 1953-54 Black Hawks, and he split 1954-55 between Chicago and Buffalo. Card #28 is his rookie card — Parkhurst never issued him from 1951-54, and he also appears in the same season's 1954-55 Parkhurst set (#79). After 131 NHL games the right wing became a Western Hockey League legend, leading the WHL in goals three straight years with Calgary, winning the 1961 Leader Cup as MVP, and later scouting 15 years for the Rangers. His first wife was Red Kelly's sister; grandson Mark Jankowski reached the NHL too.
