About Nick Mickoski

A Winnipeg junior who rose through the Rangers pipeline with the New York Rovers and New Haven Ramblers, Nick Mickoski broke in during the 1948 playoffs and held down a New York forward spot for seven seasons — long enough to be tagged "Broadway Nick." Back-to-back 35-point years in 1952-53 and 1953-54 set up this card, which caught him at the very end of his Garden run: 18 games into 1954-55 he was off to Chicago, and the split season proved his most productive at 43 points. He skated in the 1956 NHL All-Star Game as a Black Hawk, then closed with Detroit and Boston in 1960 — over 700 NHL games, 158 goals, 343 points. Out west he added a 1963 WHL championship and First All-Star Team nod with the San Francisco Seals. Not a rookie card. Manitoba's Sports Hall of Fame inducted him in 2004, and 100 Ranger Greats ranks him No. 77 among all-time Rangers.
