About Paul Ronty
By the time this card reached packs, Paul Ronty was a seasoned veteran — this is no rookie card — and 1954-55 proved to be the Toronto-born centre's final NHL season, closing with a late-season move to Montreal and five games in the 1955 playoffs. Ronty apprenticed with the EAHL's Boston Olympics and the AHL's Hershey Bears before sticking with the Bruins in 1947-48. A slick, clean playmaker — only 103 penalty minutes across 488 NHL games — he finished sixth in league scoring three times, placed third in Lady Byng voting in back-to-back seasons (1948-49 and 1949-50), and skated in four NHL All-Star Games. Moving to the Rangers for 1951-52, he handed out assists by the bushel, topping out at 54 points in 1952-53. He retired with 101 goals and 312 points, later coached high-school hockey in Weston, Massachusetts, and died in 2020 at age 91.
