About Camille Henry

Quebec City's Camille Henry rode back-to-back QJHL goal-scoring titles with the Quebec Citadelles straight onto Broadway, potting 24 goals for the 1953-54 Rangers to snatch the Calder Trophy from Jean Béliveau himself. Listed at 141 pounds on the back of this very card and never much over 150 in his career—the smallest man in the NHL—"The Eel" slithered away from crunching checks and tipped pucks home from the edge of the crease, adding the 1957-58 Lady Byng (32 goals, two penalty minutes) alongside a Second Team All-Star nod, three All-Star Games, and the Rangers captaincy in 1964-65. Trades brought Stanley Cup Final trips with Chicago in 1965 and St. Louis in 1969, plus the Blues' first-ever hat trick; he retired in 1970 with 279 goals and 528 points in 727 games. Trivia gold: he scored the only goal on Jacques Plante the night the mask debuted, November 1, 1959. Topps' first hockey set caught him a year past the Calder, but with no Parkhurst issue before it, #32 is his true rookie card—paired with the same season's Parkhurst #73.
