1975 Topps #640 Harmon Killebrew
Harmon Killebrew's final Topps card as a Twin — issued the year Minnesota let him go to Kansas City.

About Harmon Killebrew
Harmon Killebrew signed out of Payette, Idaho for a $50,000 bonus in 1954 and debuted with the Washington Senators six days before his 18th birthday. Restricted by the era's bonus rule, he needed minor-league seasoning and did not become a regular until the franchise moved to Minnesota in 1961. Over 22 seasons — mostly at third base, first base, and left field for the Senators/Twins (1954-1974), closing out with the Kansas City Royals in 1975 — "Killer," a nickname off his surname, led the American League in home runs six times and topped 40 in eight seasons, retiring with 573 career homers, then the fifth-most in major-league history. His best year came in 1969, when 49 homers and 140 RBIs earned him the AL MVP award and drove Minnesota to the AL West title; he had helped the Twins to the 1965 pennant and a seven-game World Series loss to the Dodgers. A 13-time All-Star, Killebrew entered the Hall of Fame in 1984. His two 1975 Topps cards bookend that legacy: #640, his final card as a Twin the year Minnesota let him go to Kansas City, and #207, one of two league MVP portraits in that year's "MVPs" subset.
