1960 Topps #66 Bob Trowbridge

About Bob Trowbridge
Bob Trowbridge broke into pro ball in 1950, signed off a Hudson, New York high school mound by Braves scout Dewey Griggs, then lost three seasons to the Air Force during the Korean War before returning to the Braves' system in 1954. A right-hander used mostly as a swing man, he reached Milwaukee in 1956 and posted a career-best 2.66 ERA as a rookie. In 1957 he won a career-high seven games and threw the only shutout of his career, a three-hitter at Wrigley Field, helping the Braves capture the National League pennant; he appeared in Game 3 of their World Series triumph over the Yankees. Card #66 catches him in his final big-league season, sold to the Kansas City Athletics in October 1959 after four years in Milwaukee. He made his last major-league appearance that July, closing out his career in the minors in 1961 with a 13-13 record and 3.95 ERA. Trowbridge died in Hudson in 1980 and was inducted into the Capital District Baseball Hall of Fame in 2011.
