The players on this card
Card #467 gathers four members of Danny Murtaugh's 1960 coaching staff, three of whom shared in the World Series triumph over the Yankees. Mickey Vernon, a two-time American League batting champion with the Senators, closed out his 20-year playing career with the 1960 Pirates and is credited among Murtaugh's coaches that season. Frank Oceak, a career minor-league infielder and manager, ran third base; he greeted Bill Mazeroski there and followed him home on Mazeroski's Game 7 walk-off homer. Bill Burwell, a former Browns and Pirates pitcher, served as pitching coach and helped mold Cy Young winner Vern Law. Sam Narron, a Cardinals backup catcher in the late 1930s and early 1940s, ran the Pirates' bullpen from 1951 to 1964 as a Branch Rickey protégé. The four share one of the 16 team cards in Topps' one-year-only coaches subset (#455-470).
