About Ken Boswell
Kenneth George Boswell signed with the Mets as a fourth-round pick out of Sam Houston State in the June 1965 draft and debuted in September 1967, homering off Hall of Famer Don Drysdale in his first week. Platooning at second base in 1968, he batted .261 and was named to the Topps All-Star Rookie Team. Boswell became a steady piece of the 1969 "Miracle Mets," hitting .333 in both the NLCS and the World Series as New York shocked Baltimore for the championship. He went on to set the Mets' career record for games at second base (506) before being traded to his home-state Astros for outfielder Bob Gallagher after the 1974 season. His 1975 Topps card (#479) catches him in a Houston uniform; over three years with the Astros he became one of the league's top left-handed pinch hitters, setting the club's single-season pinch-hit record with 20 in 1976. He retired after 1977 with a .248 career average and a World Series ring.
