About Ron Schueler
Ron Schueler pitched for four organizations across an eight-year big-league career, breaking in with the Atlanta Braves in 1972 out of Fort Hays State University after signing with the club in the 1967 draft. Card #292 catches him with the Philadelphia Phillies, where he spent three seasons (1974-76) as a starter-turned-reliever after being traded from Atlanta for Craig Robinson and Barry Lersch. He later pitched for the Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox before retiring in 1979 with a 40-48 record, a 4.08 ERA and 563 strikeouts over 291 games. Schueler's more lasting baseball legacy came after his playing days: he coached pitchers in Chicago and Oakland, worked in the A's front office for their 1989 World Series championship, then ran the White Sox as general manager from 1991 to 2000, building the 1993 AL West title team before later scouting for the World Series-winning 2006 Cardinals.
