1960 Topps #412 Bob Anderson
Cards #375-440 were printed on two back stocks, white and gray. White is the scarcer of the two, and the difference is the tint of the cardboard on the reverse — it is a stock variation, not a design change, so both backs read identically.

About Bob Anderson
Bob Anderson, a hard-throwing 6-foot-4 right-hander from Hammond, Indiana, starred at Hammond High, where his blazing fastball earned him the nickname "The Hammond Hummer." He signed with his boyhood-favorite Cubs in 1954 and set a Pacific Coast League record with 70 relief appearances for the 1956 champion Los Angeles Angels before debuting with Chicago in July 1957. Anderson became a full-time starter in 1959, opening the season by beating Don Drysdale and finishing 12-13 with his only career shutout, a 3-0 blanking of the pennant-contending Milwaukee Braves. That June 30 he was on the mound for one of baseball's strangest plays, an errant pitch to Stan Musial that put two balls in play at once at Wrigley Field. Shoulder trouble sapped his fastball after 1961; Detroit acquired him for 1963, then dealt him with Rocky Colavito to Kansas City that winter, closing a 36-46, 4.26 ERA career over 246 games. His 1960 Topps card, #412, comes from the scarce high-number Series 5 and exists with white or gray backs, white the tougher find.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-08-20. Half grades fold down for both graders (8.5→8); PSA qualified slabs (OC, ST, PD, MC and the like) are not counted. Neither grader separates the white and gray back stocks on this card, so the counts below cover both. The Venezuelan issue, the 1960 Topps Tattoos and Bazooka are separate products and are not counted here.
