Cards #375-440 were printed on two back stocks, white and gray. White is the scarcer of the two, and the difference is the tint of the cardboard on the reverse — it is a stock variation, not a design change, so both backs read identically.
About Irv Noren
Irving Arnold Noren broke into pro ball in 1946, signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers, and won back-to-back minor league MVP awards — the Texas League in 1948 and the Pacific Coast League in 1949 with Hollywood — before Brooklyn, with no outfield room, sold his contract to the Washington Senators. Noren rewarded Washington with a standout 1950 rookie season, then joined the Yankees in a 1952 trade and became a key part of Casey Stengel's championship outfield, appearing in three World Series (1952, 1953, 1955) and winning twice. His best season came in 1954, when he hit .319 and made the All-Star team. After trades to Kansas City and St. Louis, Noren joined the Cubs in 1959, batting over .300, before closing his playing career with the Dodgers in 1960. He later coached third base for Oakland's 1972-73 World Series champions, giving him five championship rings as both player and coach. His 1960 Topps card, #433, is a Chicago Cubs issue from the set's Series 5, printed on both white and gray card stock — the white-back version is the scarcer find.
