About Mike Lee
Michael Randall Lee, a tall left-hander out of East Los Angeles College, broke into pro ball with the San Francisco Giants organization in 1959. After struggling at Class B Fresno, he was picked by Cleveland in the December 1959 first-year player draft. Lee debuted with the Indians on May 6, 1960, working strictly in relief — seven appearances totaling nine innings, with a 2.00 ERA and six strikeouts, though wildness plagued him with 11 walks. Card #521 in the 1960 Topps set, a short-printed high number from the scarce #507-572 run, is his recognized rookie card. Traded to the Cardinals' system in 1961, Lee resurfaced with the Los Angeles Angels in August 1963, going 1-1 over six games, four as a starter, in his native Southern California — his lone big-league win coming against Kansas City, and his final appearance a strong six-inning effort against his original Cleveland club. He finished with a 1-1 record and 3.34 ERA in 13 career games, out of pro ball by 1965.
