Cards #375-440 were printed on two back stocks, white and gray. White is the scarcer of the two, and the difference is the tint of the cardboard on the reverse — it is a stock variation, not a design change, so both backs read identically.
About Rocky Colavito
Rocco Domenico Colavito signed with Cleveland as a 17-year-old free agent in 1951, after Commissioner Happy Chandler waived the rule barring him from turning pro before his high school class graduated. The strong-armed outfielder debuted with the Indians in 1955 and by 1958 was among the American League's premier sluggers, batting .303 with 41 home runs. In 1959 he tied for the league home run lead with 42 and, on June 10 at Baltimore, became just the second AL player ever to hit four consecutive home runs in a nine-inning game. Two days before Opening Day 1960, Cleveland traded him to Detroit for batting champion Harvey Kuenn, a deal so unpopular that author Terry Pluto later pinned decades of Indians futility on "The Curse of Rocky Colavito." Colavito's 1960 Topps card, #400, still shows him in an Indians uniform; it exists with white or gray stock, a high-series quirk, the white-back version scarcer today. Known simply as Rocky, short for Rocco, he set career highs of 45 homers and 140 RBI for Detroit in 1961, made nine All-Star teams, and finished with 374 home runs after returning to Cleveland in 1965 to lead the league in RBI.
