1975 Topps #606 Bruce Miller

About Bruce Miller
Charles Bruce Miller, born March 4, 1947, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, starred at Indiana University, leading the Hoosiers in hits in both 1968 and 1969, before the Chicago White Sox drafted him in the 20th round in 1970. Traded to the Angels and then to San Francisco in 1973, the right-handed infielder earned an August call-up after making the Pacific Coast League All-Star team with the Phoenix Giants. He spent all of 1975 — the year Topps issued his rookie card — as the Giants' utility man at second, third, and short, hitting his only career home run that July off Cincinnati's Clay Kirby. Miller's four-season run with San Francisco ended abruptly in September 1976, when a drunken in-flight scuffle with the team's traveling party got him sent to the minors and released; he later taught and coached baseball at North Side High School in Fort Wayne, earning induction into the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame in 2012.
