About Ken Forsch
Ken Forsch broke in with the Houston Astros as a September call-up in 1970, debuting at 23 after Oregon State and an 18th-round selection in the 1968 draft. He spent parts of three seasons as a starter before moving to the bullpen, where he became a closer, saving 19 games and earning his first All-Star selection in 1976. Back in the rotation by 1979, Forsch no-hit the Atlanta Braves 6-0 at the Astrodome on April 7 — the earliest date for a no-hitter in major-league history — making him and brother Bob Forsch, a two-time no-hit pitcher for St. Louis, the only siblings in major-league history to each throw one. Forsch helped Houston to its first NL West title in 1980 and started the Astros' first postseason game in the NLCS that October. Traded to the California Angels in 1981, he made a second All-Star team and later won a World Series ring in 2002 as the club's assistant general manager. His 1975 Topps card, #357, misspells his surname "Fursch" on the back.
