About Milwaukee Brewers
The 1975 Topps team card catches the Brewers mid-rebuild, with Del Crandall's inset marking his final season on the bench. Milwaukee had reshaped its outfield the previous November, trading Dave May to Atlanta for Hank Aaron, and on May 1, 1975, Aaron passed Babe Ruth's all-time RBI record in a game at County Stadium. Around him, first baseman George Scott won a Gold Glove and joined Aaron on the All-Star team, while second-year shortstop Robin Yount anchored the infield. None of it translated into contention: the Brewers finished 68-94, fifth in the American League East, 28 games behind the pennant-winning Red Sox. Crandall managed through September 27 before his release, with hitting coach Harvey Kuenn running the season finale as interim skipper.
