Cards #375-440 were printed on two back stocks, white and gray. White is the scarcer of the two, and the difference is the tint of the cardboard on the reverse — it is a stock variation, not a design change, so both backs read identically.
About Bob Rush
Bob Rush signed with the Cubs out of Riley High School in South Bend, Indiana, for a reported $3,000 bonus and reached the majors in 1948 after one minor-league season at Nashville. The tall right-hander became Chicago's workhorse for a decade, regularly topping 200 innings for teams that never posted a winning record, and earned back-to-back All-Star selections in 1950 and 1952. His finest season came in 1952: 17-13 with a 2.70 ERA, fifth-lowest in the National League. Traded to the defending-champion Milwaukee Braves before 1958, Rush finally reached the postseason, starting Game 3 of that World Series against the Yankees, and worked crucial relief innings in Milwaukee's tense 1959 pennant race with the Dodgers. He closed his career in 1960, split between the Braves and White Sox, finishing 127-152 with a 3.65 ERA across 13 seasons. His 1960 Topps card, No. 404, catches him with the Braves and turns up on white or gray stock, a Series 5 printing quirk in which the white-back version is the scarcer find.
