The players on this card
Card #464 gathers the Milwaukee Braves' 1960 coaching staff under new manager Chuck Dressen, who guided the club to a second-place, 88-66 finish. Bob Scheffing, a former Cubs catcher (1941-42, 1946-50) who managed Chicago to consecutive fifth-place finishes in 1958-59, joined the staff in his first season away from a big-league dugout. Whitlow "Whit" Wyatt, a four-time All-Star right-hander who won 78 games for Brooklyn's pennant winners of the early 1940s, was in his third year as pitching coach, tutoring a staff anchored by Warren Spahn and Lew Burdette. Andy Pafko, the Wisconsin-born outfielder nicknamed "Handy Andy" by Cubs manager Charlie Grimm for playing both the outfield and third base, retired after the 1959 season and stepped straight onto the coaching staff. George Myatt, an infielder known as "Foghorn" for his booming voice, coached third base and worked to make the Braves a faster, more aggressive club on the bases.
