The players on this card
"Power Plus" paired two run producers who powered Cleveland's 1959 pennant chase. Rocky Colavito, the Bronx-born right fielder known as "The Rock," tied Harmon Killebrew for the American League home run lead with 42, adding 111 RBIs and a fourth-place MVP finish. Tito Francona, acquired from Detroit for Larry Doby that spring, took over center field in June and hit .363 with 20 homers and 79 RBIs in just 122 games — a mark that would have led the league had he reached the at-bat qualifying minimum. Together they helped the Indians finish 89-65, five games behind the White Sox. The pairing proved short-lived: two days before the 1960 opener, general manager Frank Lane traded Colavito to Detroit for batting champion Harvey Kuenn, a deal Cleveland fans never forgave.
