1975 Topps #262 Rowland Office

About Rowland Office
Rowland Johnie Office was a slick-fielding center fielder who broke in with the Atlanta Braves on August 5, 1972, making him the youngest player in the majors that year at 19. A 4th-round pick out of Sacramento's C.K. McClatchy High School, Office spent 1973 in the minors before claiming a regular outfield job in 1974, sharing time in left field alongside Hank Aaron in the final Atlanta seasons of Aaron's career. In 1975, the year of his Topps rookie card, #262, Office made one of the most celebrated defensive plays in Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium history, leaping to rob a ball that appeared headed over the outfield wall. He strung together a 29-game hitting streak in 1976 before a knee injury slowed him. Office played through 1979 with Atlanta, then finished his career with the Montreal Expos (1980-82) and two games with the 1983 New York Yankees, closing an 11-season run with a .259 average, 32 home runs and 242 RBIs.
