Wally Post's 1960 Topps card, No. 13, catches him in his brief stopover with the Philadelphia Phillies, the middle stretch of an 18-year professional career that began when the Cincinnati Reds signed him at 16 out of St. Henry, Ohio, in 1946. Converted from a mound prospect to a right fielder in the low minors, Post reached Cincinnati for good in 1954 and became one of the most feared long-ball hitters in Redlegs history, teaming with Frank Robinson on the mid-1950s sluggers. His finest season came in 1955: a .309 average, 40 home runs, and 109 RBI. He earned the nickname 'best-dressed Red' for the free suits he won crashing a laundry billboard beyond Crosley Field's left-field wall. Traded to Philadelphia for Harvey Haddix in December 1957, Post returned to Cincinnati in mid-1960 and helped the Reds capture the 1961 National League pennant, batting .333 in his only World Series. He retired in 1964 with 210 home runs and was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame in 1965.
